🏍️🇺🇬 DAY 10 – THE END OF AN INCREDIBLE PEARL OF AFRICA ADVENTURE 🇺🇬🏍️

What a journey it has been.

Over the last ten days this amazing group has ridden through some of the most breathtaking landscapes Uganda has to offer. From the rolling tea plantations and winding mountain roads to the shores of Lake Bunyonyi and the vast savannahs of Queen Elizabeth and Lake Mburo National Parks, every day has delivered something special.

Together we’ve crossed the Equator, trekked with chimpanzees, stood face to face with the majestic mountain gorillas of Bwindi, experienced the warmth and hospitality of local communities, visited Kichwamba Orphanage, and shared unforgettable moments around campfires, lodges and dinner tables.

On safari we’ve been spoiled with wildlife encounters. Lions, Leopards, Elephants, Buffalo, Giraffe, Zebra, Hippos, countless antelope species and so much more. In fact, after the sightings this group has enjoyed, we’re beginning to think they might just be the luckiest group we’ve ever taken through Uganda!

But while the wildlife, scenery and adventure have been incredible, it’s the people that make a tour truly special.

A huge thank you to Steve, Richard, Alan, Debbie, Noor, Kris and Sarah for trusting us with your adventure through the Pearl of Africa. Thank you for the laughs, the stories, the teamwork, the positivity and for embracing every moment this beautiful country had to offer.

Watching complete strangers arrive and leave as friends is one of the greatest privileges of what we do. We know you’ve created memories that will stay with you for a lifetime, and we hope that every time you look back at the photos, a little piece of Uganda will still be with you.

Day 9 of the Pearl of Africa Tour and what a way to finish our final on-bike safari.

This morning the group rode from the stunning shores of Lake Bunyonyi to Lake Mburo National Park for one last motorcycle safari. The park delivered in spectacular fashion, with herds of giraffe, zebra, buffalo and countless antelope spotted throughout the ride. The smiles inside the helmets said it all.

Just when we thought the day couldn’t get any better, nature had one final surprise in store. As the group relaxed by the lake in the evening, a pod of hippos emerged from the water to graze just metres from the shoreline. Then, right in front of the guests, they began mating in full view — an incredible and rare wildlife encounter that none of us will forget in a hurry.

From mountain roads and rainforests to gorillas, lions, elephants and now hippos on the beach at sunset, this group has experienced some truly magical moments. One final day remains, but Lake Mburo has certainly given us an unforgettable ending to our last safari of the tour.

Pearl of Africa Tour Uganda – Day 8

Today was one of those days that will stay with our guests forever.

Before sunrise, while most of Uganda was still asleep, the group set off in the darkness towards Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for what is often considered one of the greatest wildlife experiences on Earth – tracking the endangered mountain gorillas.

Home to almost half of the world’s remaining mountain gorilla population, Uganda plays a vital role in the conservation of these magnificent animals. With only around 1,000 mountain gorillas left in the wild, the opportunity to spend time in their presence is something very few people ever get to experience.

After meeting their guides and trackers, the group headed into the dense rainforest in search of one of Bwindi’s habituated gorilla families. The anticipation built with every step through the jungle until suddenly, there they were.

The encounter did not disappoint.

Guests found themselves just a few metres away from these gentle giants, watching as the family went about their daily lives completely unfazed by their visitors. From enormous silverbacks quietly keeping watch over the group to playful youngsters tumbling through the undergrowth, every moment felt surreal.

One of the highlights was undoubtedly seeing several baby gorillas. Curious, energetic and full of personality, they provided plenty of entertainment as they played, climbed and interacted with the rest of the family. Watching these incredible animals up close in their natural habitat is difficult to put into words and is an experience that will remain with the group long after they return home.

After an unforgettable morning in the forest, it was time to climb back onto the bikes and continue the adventure.

The group rode east through some of Uganda’s spectacular countryside towards Bunyonyi , our final safari destination of the tour. With another night in the bush ahead and one last on-motorcycle game drive waiting for us tomorrow, the adventure is far from over.

The Pearl of Africa continues to deliver unforgettable memories at every turn.

Pearl of Africa Tour Uganda – Day 7

After an unforgettable day yesterday, featuring an incredible on-motorcycle safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park and a heartwarming visit to the Kichwamba Orphanage, it was time for the group to get back in the saddle and continue their journey south-west towards the border town of Kisoro.

Today’s ride was all about the road itself.

Leaving behind the plains and wildlife of Queen Elizabeth, the group headed into some of Uganda’s most spectacular mountain scenery. The route to Kisoro is a rider’s dream, with endless sweeping bends, twisting mountain passes and breathtaking views around every corner. As the altitude increased, so did the dramatic scenery, with rolling green hills, terraced farmland and towering volcanic peaks dominating the horizon.

Days like today are a reminder that Uganda isn’t just about the wildlife. The riding itself is world-class, and many of the guests spent the day with huge smiles inside their helmets as the roads wound through some of the most beautiful landscapes Africa has to offer.

Arriving in Kisoro this afternoon, there was a real sense of excitement building within the group. Tomorrow marks one of the highlights not only of this tour, but for many, a once-in-a-lifetime wildlife experience.

The group will be heading into the forests of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for their much-anticipated mountain gorilla trek.

For many guests, seeing these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat has been a lifelong dream, and tomorrow that dream becomes reality.

Tonight, it’s time to relax, enjoy the atmosphere of Kisoro and get a good night’s rest before what promises to be an unforgettable day in the jungle.

Day 6 of our Pearl of Africa Tour and the adventure just keeps getting better!

After all the incredible wildlife sightings yesterday, the group set off this morning on their first on-bike safari through Queen Elizabeth National Park. Excitement levels were high, and the park certainly didn’t disappoint. Within minutes, the guests were treated to an unforgettable lion sighting just a few metres from the motorcycles, followed later in the morning by encounters with elephants. Safe to say there were plenty of smiles behind those helmets!

This afternoon brought a different kind of highlight as we visited @kichwamba_orphanage to deliver supplies purchased thanks to the generosity of the guests. A special mention must go to Steve, whose substantial donation allowed us to buy a large quantity of food and essential items for the orphanage. It was an incredible display of kindness and humanity from the group.

Days like these remind us of the importance of giving back. They also leave us humbled by the generosity and spirit of the people we meet along the way. The children and staff at the orphanage welcomed us with an amazing performance of dance and song, creating memories that will stay with us all for a long time.

What a day. Wildlife, adventure, community, and unforgettable human connections – this is what the Pearl of Africa is all about.

Day five on our Pearl Of Africa tour and what a day it’s been!

This morning the group rode from Fort Portal towards Queen Elizabeth National Park, stopping at the equator along the way before continuing through some of Uganda’s incredible scenery to our lodge overlooking the park.

After arriving, we swapped the motorcycles for a boat safari and the wildlife did not disappoint! Huge elephants feeding along the shoreline, pods of hippos filling the water, crocodiles basking on the banks and even a lion spotted in the distance watching over the plains.

But the day still had one more surprise waiting for us…

This evening we headed out on a game drive and were treated to one of the most incredible leopard sightings we’ve ever experienced in all our years travelling Africa — a mother leopard with her two cubs. Absolutely magical. The entire group was already on cloud nine after witnessing something so special in the wild…

Then, just when we thought the day couldn’t possibly get any better, the king of the jungle himself appeared and crossed directly in front of the group on the way back to the lodge!

Honestly, at this point I’m starting to think this might be the luckiest tour group on the planet right now.

Tomorrow it’s time for our on-bike safari into Queen Elizabeth National Park… and after today, absolutely anything feels possible from the seat of a motorcycle in Africa!

Day four on the Pearl of Africa Tour brought two very different but equally unforgettable experiences for the group here in Fort Portal.

Some of the guests headed deep into Kibale Forest for chimpanzee trekking, and what an encounter it turned out to be! The chimps came incredibly close, swinging through the trees and moving right amongst the group, giving everyone a rare up-close look at these fascinating primates in their natural habitat. One of those wildlife moments that sticks with you forever.

Meanwhile, the rest of the group enjoyed a cultural village walk, experiencing a slower pace of life and getting a taste of locally grown Ugandan coffee straight from the source. A brilliant insight into the traditions and daily life of the communities that call this beautiful region home.

The afternoon was spent relaxing and soaking up the serenity of Top of the World Lodge, perched high above the crater lakes with views that are very hard to leave behind.

Tomorrow though, the adventure steps up another level as we ride towards Queen Elizabeth National Park for the first of our on-motorcycle safaris… and that’s where things start to get really wild!

Day three of the Pearl of Africa Tour saw the group leave Murchison Falls behind and point the bikes south towards Fort Portal.

A long day in the saddle today, riding deep through Uganda’s towns and villages, watching everyday life unfold from the seat of the motorcycle. Busy trading centres, roadside markets, waving kids and endless rolling countryside made for a true taste of rural Uganda.

After a full day on the road, the reward waiting at the end was more than worth it… tonight’s stay is at the spectacular Top of the World Lodge, perched high on the mountains above Fort Portal overlooking a stunning volcanic crater lake. Not a bad place for a cold beer and a sunset!

Tomorrow the group splits into two adventures. One group heads into Kibale Forest for chimpanzee trekking, coming face to face with our closest relatives in the wild, while the others will experience a traditional village walk, getting a deeper insight into local culture and daily life here in Uganda.

Another huge day wrapped up and plenty more adventure still to come!

Yesterday the safari hadn’t even begun yet when Richard one of our guests spotted this leopard in a nearby tree.
The leopard spotted the truck and swiftly jumped down to the bush for camouflage, staying nearby the tree to protect his kill which you can see at the start is hanging in the tree nearby.
From the horns we would guess an Adult Nyala but there wasn’t much left to identify.
Did you know Leopards take their Kills into trees to protect them from ground based predators such as Hyenas or Lions? Leopards possess specialised shoulder muscles with flexible collar bones allowing them to carry prey weight up to 100kg vertically sometimes double their own body weight!

Day two started bright and early as we left the bikes behind and climbed into the safari jeep for the first of many game drives on this tour. Early mornings in the bush can be unpredictable, but today Uganda delivered in spectacular fashion. Ahead of us, hidden beneath the cover of the bush, we spotted a leopard enjoying breakfast… a truly magical moment.

The morning was packed with incredible wildlife sightings, from mighty African elephants to the elegant Nubian giraffe, also known as Rothschild’s giraffe. Safe to say, it was a safari to remember. We stopped for lunch overlooking Lake Albert, with views stretching across to the DRC — not a bad lunch spot at all.

After returning to the lodge to collect the motorcycles, we rode deeper into the park toward the mighty Murchison Falls itself, the powerful natural wonder that gives this national park its name.

Another unforgettable day in Uganda, and somehow it just keeps getting better. Tomorrow we ride towards Kibale Forest with the promise of an epic encounter with its infamous chimpanzee troops 🤞

What an incredible start to our Pearl of Africa Tour in Uganda!

The group were up early with the sun. Leaving Kampala before the traffic gets too heavy is an absolute must!

They headed north, stopping at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Founded in 2005, their mission is to reintroduce the Southern White Rhino back into Uganda after they were wiped out due to poaching. Fantastic work from the team, giving the guests a truly up-close look at these magnificent animals!

Our final ride of the day was into Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s oldest and largest conservation area, renowned for its waterfall where the Victoria Nile plunges 43 metres — an incredible sight that the guests will get to experience tomorrow!

All that’s left now is a quick pre-dinner safety briefing for tomorrow’s safaris, dinner, then bed… or maybe a beer or two!

The Core Team Consists of Father and Son's Mark, Jordan and James.

Mark founded the company and has since taken a back seat, enjoying partial retirement Mark still enjoys joining us on tour Here and there if he's not busy riding the globe! Jordan spends most of his time in Austria where he lives when not leading our Motorcycle tours, In the summer He's a Rafting Instructor and safety Kayaker for a prestigious adventure complex and in the Winter he Patrols the Mountains as Ski Patrol! (yes we're envious too!) James along with the rest of the office team is your main point of contact with AMA organising everything from Routes to accommodation James knows our Tours like the back of his hands!

Jordan

JORDAN is our main Tour Guide in Southern Africa and has been riding and Guiding for many years. as well as guiding motorcycle tours Jordan is a level 4 Qualified white water Rafting Guide trained in field trauma and first aid, he spends his winter as a Ski Patrol in Austria and his summer as a safety Kayak for Rafters! on top of all that he's also fluent in German so rest assured you're in safe hands.

James is our Head of Sales he knows each tour inside out and is your first point of contact with AMA. James occasionally attends some of the bigger tours assisting our Guides.

when hes not in our office or on Tour James loves nothing more than to swing his leg over his bike and set off on an Adventure. James is also a keen Snowboarder and photographer.
