TOUR INFORMATION
MOTORCYCLE
On the Alpine Explorer, we ride some of the most exhilarating roads in the world—so naturally, the bikes need to match. Riders joining from the UK will be on their own adventure-ready motorcycles, while those meeting us in Austria will have access to a fleet of top-spec rental bikes, including the latest models from BMW, Triumph, and KTM. All rental bikes are meticulously maintained and come fully equipped for alpine touring. No matter your starting point, rest assured—you're in the saddle of a machine built for the mountains.

TOUR INTENSITY
This is no ordinary tour—this is the Alpine Explorer. Expect long riding days, tight switchbacks, high-altitude passes, and jaw-dropping views around every corner. The roads demand your attention, but reward it with pure riding pleasure. With varied conditions and constant elevation changes, this is a tour best suited to riders with solid road experience and a taste for adventure. Is it challenging? Yes. Is it worth it? Absolutely.
ROAD CONDITIONS
You’ll be riding nearly 3,000 km through five countries, on some of Europe’s best-maintained roads. From the silky smooth tarmac of France and Switzerland to the winding, technical climbs of Austria and Italy, the riding is nothing short of spectacular. We tackle legendary passes like Stelvio, Timmelsjoch, Fernpass, and Aiguillon, all of which are fully paved. While conditions are excellent overall, mountain roads can be narrow, twisty, and at times affected by weather—confidence in handling corners and gradients is essential.
ACCOMMODATION
We’ve selected authentic, comfortable alpine lodges and boutique hotels, handpicked for their atmosphere, hospitality, and rider-friendly locations. From mountain chalets with sweeping views to charming lakeside retreats, your accommodation is all part of the experience. Expect warm welcomes, great local food, and a good night’s rest after every epic day on the bike.
CLIMATE
Alpine weather is famously changeable. While summer brings warm riding temperatures (typically 15–28°C), higher elevations can dip into single digits—especially in the early mornings or on exposed mountain passes. Sudden rain showers or even snow at altitude are possible. Pack for all conditions and be prepared for a bit of everything—from sunshine to mountain mists.
CLOTHING
Helmets are mandatory on all our tours, regardless of local laws. We also require riders to wear protective gear including armoured jackets, gloves, and boots. Due to the changing alpine climate, we recommend layered, weatherproof riding gear—ventilated for warm valleys but able to keep you dry and warm up high. A good-quality textile suit with a thermal liner and waterproof layer is ideal.
DOCUMENTS
You’ll need a valid passport, and if you're travelling from outside the EU/UK, please check entry requirements for each country we visit.
UK-based riders: Green Card insurance and V5 documents are required.
All riders must carry an International Driving Permit (IDP) if your licence is not EU-compliant.
Ensure your travel insurance covers motorcycle touring in the Alps.
HEALTH
There are no special vaccinations or health requirements for this tour. However, we recommend you carry your EHIC or GHIC health card (if applicable), along with adequate travel and medical insurance. If you have a health condition that could affect your ability to ride, please let us know in advance—we’ll do everything we can to accommodate your needs.
