TOUR INFORMATION
MOTORCYCLE
On the Cowboy Tour, you'll be riding some of the most legendary bikes for long-distance adventure a Kawasaki KLR 650!
Our bikes are meticulously maintained by our U.S. partners to ensure maximum reliability and comfort across all terrain types. This is the American West—vast, wild, and untamed—and these bikes are built for it.

TOUR INTENSITY
The Cowboy Tour is the very definition of epic. You'll be riding through some of the most remote and rugged parts of the United States, where the road stretches endlessly, and the scenery constantly changes. There will be long days in the saddle, dramatic elevation changes, and plenty of moments that take your breath away—not just because of the altitude! It’s demanding in places, but if you're up for a proper adventure, this one delivers in spades.
ROAD CONDITIONS
Expect a mix of sweeping paved highways, winding mountain roads, and gravel sections that lead to remote lodges or scenic lookouts. From the alpine heights of the Beartooth Pass to the twisting tracks of the Black Hills, the surfaces are varied but manageable. Previous off-road experience is helpful but not essential—confidence, curiosity, and a sense of fun are far more important.
ACCOMMODATION
We've chosen accommodation that captures the spirit of the American West—ranch-style lodges, historic inns, and mountain retreats full of charm, character, and comfort. Every stop has been carefully selected to reflect the region’s rich heritage, offer a good night’s rest, and serve as the perfect base for the next day’s ride.
CLIMATE
The American West spans multiple climate zones—dry deserts, alpine peaks, and cool forested valleys. You’ll experience everything from crisp mountain mornings to hot prairie afternoons. Pack for all conditions: layers are key. Expect sunshine, occasional rain, and a mix of high-altitude cool and mid-summer heat.
CLOTHING
Helmets are mandatory throughout the tour, as are protective jackets, gloves, and sturdy boots or walking shoes. We recommend well-ventilated riding gear, as summer heat can be intense. A lightweight waterproof layer is a good idea, and sunglasses or goggles are essential—this is dusty, open country, and you’ll want to see every mile of it clearly.
DOCUMENTS
UK, EU, and most international travellers will require a valid passport with at least six months' validity. Check your government’s travel site for ESTA or visa requirements for entry into the United States. Travel insurance is essential and must include cover for motorcycle touring.
HEALTH
There are no required vaccinations for travel to the U.S., but standard immunisations should be up to date. The altitudes can be high in some areas, so consult your GP if you have any concerns, especially if you have pre-existing health conditions. As always, bring any personal medications you may need.
